The Power of Our Own...

It so happened a few weeks ago, that I was watching KBC when Amitabh Bachchan introduced the team of the 'Robin Hood Army' with it's founder, Neel Ghose. A zero profit organization, the Robin Hood Army aims to reduce hunger. Consisting of volunteers, they collect remaining food from restaurants and distribute them among the poor in return for smiles on their faces. These people don't work for money. But they work for humanity.

Humanity; the behavior of humans. However, it isn't just limited to ourselves. Humanity is helping others who are in need. It is thinking and acting above, religion, creed, societal norms and political differences. Humanity is working for the mere purpose of making someone happy. And that's what the Robin Hood Army are known for. Sparing food for those who really need it.

Many of us ignorantly show off our class and status; especially in weddings. Take a moment to wonder how much food is prepared for a wedding in comparison to the amount consumed. A starters section, a main course section and a deserts section. However, this is just a simplistic overview of what is presented. Because the sub sections include cuisines such as Indian and continental, each with a wide variety of scrumptious delicacies. Of which only a few are fortunate to be chosen by us as individuals. Thankfully, the leftover of an individual fills the stomachs of many. Remaining food from a single wedding gave 600 homeless people a meal they had longed for.

They didn't care about the source of the food; because they had immense trust in the giver and utmost desperation to fill their stomachs. They weren't particular about their preferences because they knew the value of food. They weren't in isolation, but happily shared their food amongst their own with a bright smile on their faces despite the hardships faced daily.

They say learning has no age. I say learning has no limits. No restrictions. No boundaries.

A salute to these homeless with big hearts and the Robin Hood Army for their courageous initiative.
