Safety Just in Broad Daylight?

"Are you sure living here is safe? That's certainly not what the media portrays it to be, right?" are some of the most common doubts I come across. I, being a resident of India, an LEDC; Less Economically Developed Country, always face doubts against the safety issues of my country. The bizarre thing is, that I normally hear this more from Indians living outside India than other foreigners. Although I too live as an NRI, and only visit my home country for two months every year, the excitement is indescribable. The moment I step out of the airport, I find the moisture filled atmosphere so welcoming and heartwarming; it never fails to bring a smile on my face. The happiness it brings is on a whole new level.

MEDCs are always given preference to; whether it is for education or spending a lifetime. They are organized, sophisticated, and are a dreamland for many. But the little moments of free spirited joy you experience can truly be felt in an LEDC. For me, the best part of my Summer in India is relishing street food along with numerous laughters!

I believe a city is not made safe by its ranking. What really assures safety and spreads the warmth is when its citizens ensure a secure environment!
