Tiranga

One day
No lines will remain

Marred
between cities and states
Across borders
where brothers mark each other’s fate
Where privileges
will be replaced by deeds
No longer will the difference matter
between castes or creed
‘Dusky’ won’t be a taunt,
‘Fair’ not a boastful comment
Expectations will be followed willingly,
dreams will be lived in the moment
Opinions won’t get succumbed
under stereotypes
discussions won’t be fought
As we hoist our beloved flag
we’ll also rise to our freedom of thought
Governments won’t solely be blamed
people won’t be let out so easily
The richer our hearts will get
the lesser food will be measly
No religion over another
every language will be appreciated
for its beauty
Rules will be shared
and followed
as a responsible citizen’s duty
A daughter will be as precious
as a son, a profession never demeaned
in front of another
The disparities will lessen
as we embrace
each other
With acceptance of flaws
and a hopeful ray
Each night I look up to the moon
and pray

May this ‘tiranga’ in our hearts never fade

For no lines will remain
One day.
