We walked out of our ever so comfortable hotel in Dubai, roamed through malls, admiring the tall skyscrapers and advanced technology...until we reached the spot where my soul felt at peace. I found solitude in front of a calm sea, right in front of the lavish Atlantis. Where people were busy clicking numerous selfies from different angles to post on their social media accounts, I spent that half hour relaxing on a hammock, observing the repetitive waves as they soothed my mind. Nature gave me something nothing else did; it gave me peace. Despite the 11 months spent as residents in Dubai, I never got the opportunity to admire its natural beauty hidden behind these man made skyscrapers. A few questions bombarded my mind, leading me to this quote. How often did we come out under the sun to enjoy its scorching heat, without caring about getting tanned? How often did we spend five minutes to just adore the way the sea met its shore? How often did we appreciate nature the way we appreciated man made creations?
Dubai was known to be a bustling hub city, a place with renowned brands and sophisticated lifestyle. The much that I enjoyed the fascination in the adventurous activities and gigantic malls had, I found peace, sitting on a hammock that slowly rocked, hair flowing by the soft winter breeze, an ice cream in hand, and the unending sea laid in front of me!
