Chapter 4:- Eagerness

Another short update, but as a progression towards the next lengthy chapter... :D

(Still in Flashback)
Our first scene was a few miles away from my ‘palace’ or the Bijolia Palace. Jannat and I were told to sit in a palki which was kept one after the other. I, interpreting Ajabde’s persona, thought that the simple one with no extra drapes and accessories was mine. The palki in front of it was a lavish and extraordinary one. With many accessories here and there, the overall look was vibrant and royal. Mine had dull yellow drapes whereas she had bright green. I wanted to sit in hers but that wasn’t my role. As ordered, we both sat in our palkis. This is probably the first time I was sitting in something like this, and I had to admit, the ride was bumpy yet fun. Beside me, there were some books wrapped in red cloth which I recognized as the Granths and other religious texts. The crew member who had called me earlier; Vishnu Bhaiya, said that I had to read them while riding on the palki. My eyes widened, frightening him as well.
“But, how do I read these? I don’t even know Sanskrit, Bhaiya!”
His expression changed as he relaxed and sighed “Oh, so that’s the problem. I thought that you wouldn’t read it due to religious reasons or something… Don’t worry, the texts have been re-written in Hindi.”
I sighed and started giggling. Vishnu Bhaiya joined me before resuming his work. How dumb I was to ask such silly questions. Obviously they would have the Granths in Hindi; aaj ke zamane mein kisko aati hai Sanskrit?!
“Roll, Camera, Action!”
The ‘dasis’ lifted both palkis and I was cued to start reading the religious texts kept in front of me. As I was saying them I noticed from my drape that Jann- I mean Phool wasn’t paying attention. She was busy changing her rings and other jewelry. I kept on reading the Granth; slowly, but steadily. After a few meters and a few re-takes. We finally reached in front of something as a big hut.
“Well Done girls!” The cameraman commented. “You are truly very talented. Such a tender age, yet acting with so much perfection. You kids will surely be the future of Bollywood!”
“Thank you Uncle” I continued. “All thanks to Mata Rani for giving us an opportunity to do such popular shows with such thoughtful crew members.”
“Yes, I totally agree with Roshni!”Jannat chipped in. “Roshni, come let’s see the huts. Chalo na!” Jannat suppressed her excitement filled voice. She had always been very hyper. Which is why she was so good at brightening my mood whenever I felt low. And that is why she was my closest friend. I nodded as she pulled me by the wrist.
“She is so sweet and considerate” I heard the cameraman uncle whisper to his assistant. “Yes sir, her behavior resembles Faisal’s so much. He is so polite too.”
My heart leaped in my throat as they mentioned his name. Slowly a smile curved on my lips as I looked away. My eagerness grew each moment as I waited to meet him, Faisal Khan, the lead actor of the show.
